Difference Between UPS & Inverter

2021-07-09

The abbreviation of the UPS is the Uninterruptable Power Supply. It has built-in battery, which can continuously provide backup AC power supply for load equipment such as electrical appliances in case of abnormal power grid, so as to maintain the normal operation of electrical appliances.

When the mains supply is normal, the backup ups will directly supply power to the load from the mains supply. When the mains supply exceeds its working range or power failure, it will be converted to battery inverter power supply through the change-over switch.

UPS

When the mains supply of online UPS is normal, the mains supply rectifies to provide DC voltage to the inverter, and the inverter provides AC to the load. When the mains supply is abnormal, the inverter is powered by the battery, and the inverter is always in working state to ensure uninterrupted output.

uninterrupted power supply

The inverter is an electronic circuit that changes the DC to AC. It does not generate electric power; the power is supplied from the battery. The input voltage of the inverter is the constant DC power source, and their output may be square, sine or pulse sine wave depends on the circuit and design of the inverter. The frequency of the output wave of the inverter remains same as that of the standard frequency, i.e., the 50 or 60 Hertz.
